Privacy policy

Last updated 7 November 2026 · Applies to Habit Dial for Android (Google Play)

In short: your habits and check-ins never leave your phone. There is no account, no server, no cloud sync, no advertising and no analytics, and we never see your data.

The only outside service is Google Play, which handles the optional one-time purchase.

Who we are

Habit Dial is made and published by ionutcm, an independent developer in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question, email contact@ionutcm.com.

Information stored on your phone

Everything you enter is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage:

WhatWhere it is kept
Your habits for each month (names, colours, order) and the days you mark as doneOn your phone only, encrypted
Settings, such as light or dark appearanceOn your phone only, encrypted
When your free trial started, and whether Google Play has confirmed your lifetime purchaseOn your phone only, encrypted
App Lock settings (your PIN is never stored, only a salted, one-way check value)On your phone only, encrypted, never included in backups

This information is encrypted with a key held in your phone's Android Keystore. We do not collect, receive, sell or share any of it. Android's automatic cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are turned off for Habit Dial, so Android does not copy it to Google Drive or to another phone. Habit Dial does not ask for location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or notifications.

No account, advertising or analytics

You don't need an account to use Habit Dial. The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software, and it never sends your habit data over the internet.

Backups

When you export a backup, the app creates a file containing your habits, check-ins and appearance setting, and you choose where it goes (for example your phone or Google Drive). It does not contain your PIN or purchase details. That file is under your control and is covered by the policy of wherever you store it. We never receive it.

Purchases

Habit Dial offers one optional purchase: a one-time lifetime unlock, sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment, your payment details and your Google account, and we do not receive them. To check that you own the unlock, the app receives from Google Play only a product identifier and a purchase token, and keeps that confirmation on your phone. Your habit data is never sent to Google Play. Google may give us basic order details (such as order number, date, country and amount), which we use only for accounting and refunds. See Google's privacy policy.

App Lock and biometrics

App Lock is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, Habit Dial asks for a 4- or 6-digit PIN when it opens, and Android hides the app's content in the recent-apps screen and blocks screenshots. Your PIN itself is never stored: only a scrambled check value, which cannot be turned back into your PIN. If you also turn on biometric unlock, Habit Dial uses Android's own fingerprint or face system (BiometricPrompt). Your biometric data stays in your phone's secure hardware. Habit Dial only receives a yes or no answer and never sees the biometric data.

If you forget your PIN and can't unlock with biometrics, the only way back into the app is to delete its data on your phone. We cannot recover it for you.

Keeping information safe

Because we run no servers for Habit Dial, there is no copy of your habits on our side to lose or to be breached. Anyone who can unlock your phone and open the app could see your habits, so we recommend keeping your phone locked and turning on App Lock.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your phone until you delete it. In Habit Dial, Settings → Delete all data removes every habit and check-in and turns off App Lock. Uninstalling Habit Dial, or clearing its storage in Android settings (Settings → Apps → Habit Dial → Storage), deletes all of it. Backup files you saved are not deleted automatically; delete them yourself if you no longer need them.

If you email us

If you contact us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you. We delete the conversation when it is no longer needed, and at the latest after 2 years.

Children

Habit Dial is a personal habit tracker for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have rights to access, correct and delete your personal data, and to object to its use. As we hold no data about you from the app, these requests usually concern Google Play purchases or an email you sent us. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
